Payroll Clerk

Location: Swansea

Reports To: Payroll Manager

Salary: £19 - £21K Dependant on experience

Working Hours: 37.5hrs per week

Staff Responsibility:

Overview of position:

Assist with the daily operation of the Payroll Bureau, ensuring that payrolls are processed accurately and on time and in accordance with established departmental procedures

Key Deliverables:

Operational

  • To prepare accurate payroll records and ensure timely payments
  • To ensure GDPR compliance
  • To comply to all HMRC legislation including RTI / Auto enrolment
  • To process BACS payments as an indirect submitter
  • To carry out special work as requested
  • To maintain payroll spread sheets to ensure accurate audit trail records are kept
  • To process E-Submissions for the accuracy of employee tax codes
  • Input information to SAGE, IRIS, Xero and QuickBooks accounts software etc.
  • To ensure chargeable hours and recovery targets are met
  • Deliver information in a timely manner
  • Communicate to management progress on workload and plan for efficient completion
  • Communicate with clients in a positive and engaging manner
  • Carry out other tasks that may be assigned to you in order to support the Firm and your other colleagues

  • Work with managers and L&D to ensure your training needs and are identified and met
  • Ensure lines of communication within the Firm are open are always transparent
  • Develop a professional and supportive approach to your fellow colleagues

Criterion

Education

Essential 

  • GCSE's to include Maths and English

Experience/Knowledge

Essential 

  • 2 years proven professional experience in a payroll related role
  • A good knowledge of HMRC, payroll systems, taxation, national insurance rules, pension scheme administration, auto-enrolment and payroll related legislation

Desirable

  • CIPP Payroll Technicians Certificate or equivalent
  • Experience of operating a payroll in a Bureau environment
